Smokey Quartz, also known as Smoky Quartz is composed of silicon dioxide, like all other quartz varieties and gets its name from the smokey hues found in the crystal. The colors of Smokey Quartz range from pale champagne color to blackish dark brown and everywhere in between.
The color of Smokey Quartz crystals comes from natural radiation reacting with trace elements of aluminium within the stone.

I find Smokey Quartz to be a deeply soothing stone. The lighter, champagne colored crystals tend to have a profoundly angelic energy.
