DIY Rose Salt Recipe :: An Exotic Finish
Take an organic or pesticide free red rose and remove all the petals. Let them dry naturally over a few days, or use a dehydrator. For a super quick method, put the petals on a plate and microwave them for 1 minute on low.
Whirl the dried petals in a food processor, blender or coffee grinder with 2 tablespoons of Himalayan Pink Salt, or any high quality sea salt. Natural solar dried sea salt is preferred to regular table salt because the natural minerals present offer a host of health benefits.
The result is an aromatic soft rose pink finishing salt!
If you don't want to make it yourself, you can buy edible Rose Petal Salt here. Sprinkle on almost any food, from chicken to chocolate, extending onto the plate for a splash of colorful drama and an ever so exotic flavor. Heavenly delicious!
Use them as is as bath salts or get creative and mix the salts with a little oil such as organic sweet almond oil, coconut, or olive oil to make a nice consistency for a body scrub. Add a few drops of nice smelling essential oil such as rose geranium or organic sweet orange essential oil for the joyful, calming aromatherapy benefits, and you've got yourself a decadent home spa day creation!
You could even try this recipe with sugar instead of salt for both the culinary and spa applications. Rose infused sugar sprinkled on cookies? Count me in. Rose infused sugar scrub - heck yes. The sugar adds enzymatic exfoliation to your body scrub for soft, smooth skin.
